Glen of Aherlow

Tipperary’s most attractive and scenic holiday spot is a lush green valley where the River Aherlow runs between the Galtee Mountains and Slievenamuck.

Visitors can choose from a whole range of activities including walking, horse-riding, cycling and fishing.

The focal point of the Glen is the Statue of Christ the King with his hands raised, said to be blessing the Glen and all who pass by.

Near the statue is the entrance to the Glen of Aherlow National Park with its looped walking trails, information panels on the local flora and fauna , picnic tables and fairy doors dotted throughout the forest.

Also within the valley and its surrounding areas are numerous prehistoric and early Christian sites including a holy well and a churchyard.

Visit the website www.aherlow.com for information on all the activities available within the Glen and details on where to book,  along with maps of all the looped walking trails within the park.
