Oileán Adventures
Promoting South Kerry’s natural beauty, charm, and heritage. This full day bespoke excursion is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts who want to spend time exploring the nooks and crannies of our beautiful local area. Outside of the well known Ring of Kerry route which already attracts many visitors to the area, there is an abundance of alternative things to see and do as you will discover. You will be exposed to the untamed landscape and rich culture of South Kerry and begin to see why it is famously referred to as the Kingdom.
In a world where our daily lives have never been busier, this tour will help to reconnect you to the nature on our doorstep by getting you up close to the beautiful flora and fauna of South Kerry. This guided experience will take all of the planning off your hands as you will be brought to some of the best tucked away parts of the area that would otherwise require lots of time and energy to plan for individually. Reducing your carbon footprint will be prioritised in the form of walking excursions and bike rentals as much as possible. Join us for a fun-filled day exploring hidden gems, enjoying breathtaking views, and making memories with a fantastic group of fellow adventurers. Don't miss out on this opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and create unforgettable experiences!
Tours will run weekly weather permitting throughout the summer. You can expect to dive into the fresh Atlantic waters at local swim spots, get off the beat and track whilst hiking across the lush hills that make up the picturesque landscape, bike along the scenic countryside roads, try one of the best pints of Guinness in Ireland, spend time with like-minded travelers and much more!
Although we aim to walk and bike as much as possible, your own mode of transport will be needed for activities out of reach - carpooling is encouraged!
Expectations:
This tour is most suited to travelers who typically spend time being active outdoors, comfortable with mixed weather conditions, and who are conscious of the environment around them. A good level of fitness will be required for the activities i.e. Experience walking and biking on mixed terrain, steep inclines and over multiple hours.
As we will spend a good proportion of time outdoors it is essential that you bring warm layers (thermals, fleece, gloves, hat, scarf/buff, spare socks) waterproof clothing, good, sturdy hiking boots, swimming gear and towel, snacks if you need some. o Tour groups will be a maximum of 6 people.
About me:
Hello! I’m Emma. Originally from Meath, I moved to Cahersiveen, Kerry, in the summer of 2022 for what was a temporary Work away at the time. Very quickly into my stay I completely fell in love with Cahersiveen and the surrounding areas. It's safe to say that my temporary move was made permanent the more I started exploring South Kerry and getting to know the locals, many of whom are now some of my closest friends. I am an outdoor nut and as soon as I landed here I wanted to see it all, and that's exactly what I did. I went off the beat and track, explored as much as I could like a local, joined walking groups, local sports groups and said yes to any outdoor adventure that was on the cards. Although I still have some corners to discover I can say with certainty that there are many places I do know of and go to regularly which are free from the mainstream tourists.
