Sliabh Liag Cliff Experience

0

Sliabh Liag is a walker’s paradise, offering a variety of trails suited to different skill and fitness levels. The famous One Man’s Path loops around onto the Pilgrim’s Path and is not for the faint-hearted.

Brave walkers tackling the One Man’s Path will reach the summit of the majestic cliffs, where they can gaze out over the sea from a breathtaking vantage point and soak up panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Sligo Mountains, and Donegal Bay.

As Ireland’s ultimate sea cliff experience and a signature point on the Wild Atlantic Way coastal touring route, Sliabh Liag offers both natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Located in the Gaeltacht region of County Donegal, these cliffs are the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe, with the cliff face of Bunglas rising over 600 metres above the ocean below.

This natural masterpiece features a stunning palette of colours across land and seascape: azure skies, wispy white clouds, and cool blue seas meet sunlight that beams down on ancient rock formations, green and purple heather. Sliabh Liag is truly Mother Nature’s finest canvas, where tales of myth, legend, local history, and Irish tradition are painted into the wild and rugged landscape.

There are a number of ways you can visit the Cliffs. You can call to the Visitor Centre, F94 W8KC where our staff and guides will be happy to help you, here you can avail of the shuttle bus service operating daily from 10.10am - 5.00pm. For those who wish to walk, we can recommend parking at the Visitor Centre and walking the 4km to the viewpoint or alternatively you can park at the Ranger Station car park, 2km's from the viewpoint, fees apply here, €10 per 2 hour stay or €15 all day ticket.

For a different perspective, see the Sliabh Liag cliffs from the sea. Various boat tours depart from Teelin Pier, with friendly skippers who will delight you with tales and local lore. You can stop off in sheltered coves to relax in the sun.

Additional Activities

  • Try angling or take a refreshing swim in the sea during your boat trip.
  • Keep an eye out for basking sharks and dolphins, known to visit these waters regularly, especially in summer—meaning you might not be swimming alone!
