Friar’s Bush Cemetery has it all! Belfast’s most ancient burial place at Baile Bhaile na mBráithre offers Belfast’s closest connection to traditional Celtic Ireland of myth, music and legend.

This magical evocative graveyard houses a fine collection of curious stones, slate memorials, monuments, Celtic crosses and tombstones. Their tour guides will navigate you through the different ages giving an in-depth commentary on significant and tragic events, customs and some of the grand characters associated with this mysterious cemetery. No tour is the same and guides selected by Cairde na Cille (Friends of the Churchyard) are well versed in the unique history, verse and stories that bring the cemetery to life.

Some tours are enhanced with music and drama during special events and festivities. All proceeds of Cairde na Cille’s tours go towards this non-profit organisation’s many charitable endeavours including community education and wellbeing programmes, Irish culture and language events, ancient site restoration and graveyard maintenance at this treasured place and others to follow!
