An artists retreat providing creative holiday experiences in a beautiful Irish cottage and studio, set in the stunning Inishowen peninsula in county Donegal.

This stunning cottage dates back to the early 1800’s and has been lovingly restored using traditional lime materials. Some would say that it would have been easier to just knock the cottage down and start again! But for owners and hosts Sinéad and Andy this was never in their minds. The cottage is part of the local landscape and history, and rebuilding the walls became a labour of love, using the same stone that local stonemasons used 200 years earlier.

The cottage consists of two bedrooms, a shower room, a kitchen and living area, a small scullery, and a studio. It sits in almost an acre of garden in the rolling countryside of hills and farmland, bog and coast. The cottage and studio are located next to the host’s family home and guests can make friends with dog (Rowan) and cat (Luna) too!

The beautiful Inishowen peninsula is much less visited than elsewhere but is full of hidden gems, secluded spots and dramatic coastline. With the Wild Atlantic Way on its doorstep, there is lots to see and do year round. The people of Inishowen have a lot to offer any artist looking to improve their creative skills. By taking time to learn about the culture and history of Inishowen, you can find inspiration that reflects this unique place.

– Your Hosts Sinéad and Andy

Sinéad is a local artist with more than 20 years experience as an art tutor. Her works have been shown both nationally and internationally, and are held in public and private collections globally. Andy is a bit more “behind the scenes”, but both of your hosts will ensure that you have a wonderful experience during your stay.

– Discover Your Inner Creativity

With a studio attached to the cottage, guests have the option to avail of tuition to help improve their paint skills in a working studio, with expert tuition from Sinéad. A self taught artist, mum of three Sinéad’s passion is sparking creativity and encouraging everyone to get creative. Guests have access to the studio in the evening time and may even get the pleasure of sharing the space with Sinéad as she works.

You can of course just stay in the cottage – art tuition isn’t compulsory!

Located just outside the village of Carndonagh, the cottage is not far from popular attractions such as Wild Ireland and Wild Alpaca Way, and the start of the epic 2500km long Wild Atlantic Way. Sinéad and Andy also offer tailor made experiences including yoga, spa visits, speciality chefs, guided heritage trails, art trails, surfing and watersports.
