There really is no greater treat than a slice of warm, traditional Irish bread, slathered in real Irish butter, the best in the world! Long before the potato became a national favourite, the Irish were loving their bread. And to this day, there’s usually always a brown soda bread loaf with butter and jam, and a nice pot of tea to fill the hunger gap, in most Irish homes. A tradition that’s been around for generations, but has never lost its charm.

At Wild Fuschia Bakehouse, owner Sian McCann feels that she is simply taking her place in a long line of women who loved to bake. Most of Sian’s childhood memories evoke a mix of tastes and smells associated with baking with her Granny and Great Aunt Maisie; hovering beside the range as Maisie would mix the pancake batter, and her big brother and her racing to see who could eat the most pancakes! Although Sian never won the race, after eating her fill of the sugary, moreish delights, she never felt like she really lost!

Sian’s mother continued the tradition and is affectionately known as Granny Bun, creating more memories for her own grandchildren. Now Sian herself continues the love of baking and shares that love with her nearest and dearest. She has expertly developed a delicious range of award winning dry bread mixes that are easy to make, ready in less than an hour, and are simple, wholesome, and tasty products that bring her beloved family recipes to countless other homes across Ireland and around the world.

Her dry bread mixes are extremely easy to make and only require a few additional ingredients, and most importantly, they taste delicious! And, they have the awards to prove it!
Customers can choose from traditional Irish bread mixes such as Irish Wheaten Bread, Irish Soda Bread, Irish Potato Bread, Irish Stout Bread, and Irish Scone Mix. Wild Fuschia Bakehouse are delighted to have teamed up with All Ireland Foods to enable them to ship their award winning bread mixes all over the world.

Sian also hosts cookery classes and demonstrations for small groups and private parties and is a proud member of Food Coast Donegal, a regional branding initiative by the Local Enterprise Office, Donegal, aiming to support, celebrate, and grow the county’s food sector and establish Donegal as a county with a strong food culture and economy. She will introduce you to the art of cooking including baking, bread making, and the fun you can have making jams, chutneys, pickles, and even gins!
